This position is accountable for providing leadership, organization, control, and support to the construction projects. The individual will be responsible for helping to drive and implement the company strategy and vision.
Job description

Skills:

·      Strong business acumen financial and technical skills, relevant to the specific industry

·      Analytical, systematic, logical and process thinking

·      Strong management and organisational skills combined with the ability to manage conflict

·      Strong leadership skills (plan, direct, implement, control, review)

·      Strong communication and presentation skills and the ability to interact with senior management

·      Ability to negotiate, facilitate and influence interactions with employees, clients, suppliers and third parties

·      Ability to write reports (clear and unambiguous written, verbal, and non-verbal communication)

·      South African Council for the Project and Construction Management Professions

 

Knowledge:

·       SACPMP Professional Registration required

·       Understand project planning and resource allocation.

·       Experience in project estimates and rates build up concepts using CCS.

·       Experience in Revenue and cost management.

·       Knowledge of Eskom supply chain management process

·       Adherence to SHEQ standards

·       Writing of project monthly reports and prepare cost reports.

·       Experience in Roads& Earthworks, building construction, dams’ construction, pipelines, fencing, Asphalting, building maintenance concrete& drainage works.

·       Knowledge and understanding of the occupational health & safety act, PFMA and corporate governance.

·       Contracts management specifically the NEC3 and other contracts

 

Key Responsibilities

 

·       Leadership

·       Manage Construction project managers and report to the Head of Department.

·       Strategic business planning, continuous improvement, and innovation

·       Health and Safety, environmental, and Quality compliance and improvement

·       Marketing, Customer and Stakeholder Relationship Management and Communication

·       Quotations and Negotiations

·       Manage project scope, Time, Costs, Resources and Risk

·       Leads and manages Human resource.

·       Directly engage and manage stakeholder communication.

·       Improve the sites production and related challenges.

·       Manages discipline and site resources focus.

·       Assist the project with procurement in line with Eskom supply chain management process.

·       Contract management responsibilities and close out disputes

·       Track project profitability and resolve project losses.

·       Intervene in all SHEQ requirements.

·       Responsible for driving the profitability and safety of all projects under their control

Minimum requirements

Qualification(s):

·        

·    Relevant qualification in Electrical/Civil/Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management or Quantity Surveying.

·     Management qualification (e.g MBA, Project Management, Management Development Diploma, etc) would be advantageous.

Experience:

·        

·    8 years in a senior Management role related to construction projects with operational experience and background

·    Must have experience in managing turnover

·    Good understanding, technical knowledge, and experience with regards to the electrical and / or civil construction industry

·    Knowledge and understanding of the occupational health & safety act, PFMA and corporate governance

·    Contracts management
