Introduction
Area of specialization: To provide executive leadership and full accountability for the planning, development, operation, maintenance, and performance of South Africa’s national high‑voltage transmission network, ensuring reliable, safe, efficient, and non‑discriminatory transmission services to all network users. The role is the national custodian of transmission system reliability, grid capacity, and infrastructure investment, responsible for enabling security of supply and the energy transition through timely grid expansion, asset lifecycle management, and the integration of new generation capacity, in line with NTCSA’s transmission licence and legislative mandate. Job description

Key Responsibilities 

  • Oversee Transmission network planning and development.
  • Provide Grid operations, maintenance, and asset management oversight.
  • Drive Grid access, tariffs, and customer interface.
  • Drive governance, regulatory compliance, and risk management.
  • Lead stakeholder engagement and strategic alignment.
  • Strengthen people leadership and organisational sustainability.

Minimum requirements

Qualification(s) 

  • BSc/B Eng Degree in Electrical Engineering/ Energy Management at NQF8 with 480 credits

Professional Registration Body:

  • Registered Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) with ECSA (Engineering Council of South Africa)

 Experience 

  • 15 years Leadership experience in managing complex transformation or infrastructure projects within the energy, utility or infrastructure sectors, lead large-scale, cross-functional projects, managing multiple stakeholders and delivering transformation initiatives within scope, budget, and time.
