Knowledge
· Eskom and Generation strategy, business plans, policies and procedures
· South African legislation processes, procedures and protocols (AEL, NAEIS, MES, carbon emission reporting)
· Existing national and international environmental professional standards
· Concepts and principles of interpreting legislation
· Implications and impacts of various operations and business processes on environmental indicators and Generation plant processes
· Technical aspects of various business processes, operations and the impact on environmental indicators (air quality and Generation focus)
· Application and use of the various performance management systems and the protocols for integrating and changing the systems
· Concepts and principles of conducting, benchmarking and using benchmarking information

Key Responsibilities
1. Consult and advise on the interpretation and implementation of environmental management strategies, policies and processes in respect of air quality (including the Minimum Emission Standards)
2. Manage technical multi-disciplinary teams for the delivery of air quality compliance activities
3. Identify, interpret, and assess proposed environmental management-related legislation, standards and decisions (focus on air quality and climate change).
4. Determine and recommend best practices for environmental management (air quality) and consult on implementation and legal responses.
5. Identify environmental management objectives and key performance indicators (KPls).
6. Explore and formulate engagement with relevant stakeholders and authorities and consult on strategic partnerships.
7. Coach and mentor environmental professionals.
Minimum requirements
Qualification(s):
Honours Degree in Environmental Management at NQF8 with 480 credits
Related Minimum Experience:
Seven (7) Years experience in the area of environmental management
Professional Registration:
South African Council for Natural Scientific Professions (SACNASP)
