Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical consulting and investigation services to support product development.
- Produce and integrate complex engineering solutions/designs for new or enhanced utility products and services.
- Develop and approve discipline specific philosophies, technical standards, procedures, work practices and specifications that guide product development activities.
- Develop discipline specific technology vision, strategy and direction to enable innovative product development.
- Plan and change discipline specific research into new technologies that support future product development initiatives.
- Represent Eskom in national and international technical forums.
- Manage and conduct complex products, equipment, material, service and change impact evaluations to ensure technical integrity and suitability for deployment.
- Provide professional technical leadership to multidisciplinary teams involved in product development.
Minimum requirements
- Qualification(s):
BSc Eng/B Eng Degree in Engineering at NQF8 with 480 credits
- Minimum Related Experience:
7 Years minimum related experience within a utility or power distribution environment, including engineering design, design integration, and engineering management across MV and LV networks; distribution substations (transformers, switchgear, and auxiliary systems); protection and control systems; advanced metering systems (AMI and smart metering); and distribution automation platforms such as SCADA, telecontrol, and network monitoring. Experience in grid modernisation technologies, including Distributed Energy Resources (DER), Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), and modern digital control systems for distribution networks, will be an added advantage.
- Professional Body Registration:
Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) as professional engineer.
