Job description

Knowledge

·   Technical knowledge of electrical systems, components, and tools.

·   Problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve electrical issues efficiently.

·   Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics.

·   Hands-on experience with electrical tools, testing devices, and diagnostic equipment.

·   Understanding of basic electrical theories.

·   Understanding of safety standards and electrical codes, including the National Electrical

   Code and local regulations.

·   Physical stamina and flexibility to work in various environments, including heights, confined

   spaces, or industrial settings.

  

 

Skills:

·       Basic use of electrical tools: Multi-meter, Insulation Tester (with supervision).

·       Ability to understand causeandeffect (e.g. why tests are done).

·       Capacity and capability to absorb procedures, drawings, and checklists.

·       Good interpersonal skills.

·       Proficient in the use of Basic Electrical Testing equipment.

·       Communication and teamwork skills for effective collaboration with relevant stakeholders.

 

Attributes:

·       Ability to learn quickly from observation and instruction

·       Curiosity and willingness to ask relevant questions

·       Strong safety awareness and hazard recognition

·       Ability to follow procedures exactly (no shortcuts)

·       Respect for highvoltage risks and controlled work areas - plant rules and governance

·       Willingness to work extended hours during outages (where applicable)

·    National Diploma in Electrical Heavy Current Engineering

 

Experience:

·       Related handson exposure to electrical work, even at a basic level: Apprenticeship or learnership participation. TVET college practical training. Workshopbased electrical work. Assisting qualified electricians or technicians
